BANGOR – Virginia Hovey Luce, 89, left to meet her maker and died in her home. She was born May 12, 1914, in Ludlow, New Brunswick, the daughter of Olla and Tully Hovey. A graduate of Hampden Academy and Beals Business School. She belonged to Excelsior Rebecca Lodge, the 49ers who were a group of her friends. She was a member of the Hampden Historical Society and Colombia Street Baptist Church. “Ginny” was an avid writer, keeping old friends and school chums appraised of the happenings in Bangor through the years. She is survived by a son, David Luce of Brewer; a daughter, Connie Howland of Washington; sisters, Ada O’Donnell of South Carolina, Audrey Guitard of Ludlow, New Brunswick; and brothers, Bud Hovey of Fredericton, New Brunswick; two grandsons, Gary Clukey of Colorado, and Trevor Luce of Portland. She was predeceased by brothers, Garry, Holly and Wilson Hovey. At her request there will be no memorial or funeral services.
