GUILFORD – Vivian (Smith) Hazlett, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Feb. 23, 2007, at a Dover-Foxcroft health care facility, after a brief illness. She was born May 13, 1910, in Dell, Mass., daughter of K. Paul and Edith (Gilbert) Smith. She was the oldest of nine children, all raised on the family farm in North Heath, Mass. Mom lived most of her life on a farm, and was a very capable wife, mother, excellent cook and a fine Christian friend to all. She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Hazlett in 1988, while living in Dexter; also by brothers, Louis, Marshall, Fredrick and Gilbert Smith. She is survived by a son, James P. Hazlett of North Heath, Mass.; two daughters, Jane Butler and husband, David, of Poteau, Okla., and Ann Panciera and husband, Richard, of North Guilford, with whom she made her home for 16 years; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Simmons of Connecticut, Robert, Jared and Jeremy Panciera, who lived locally, also Eric, Asa and Joel Fish; 11 great-grandchildren, Micah, Thomas, Alyssa, Jennifer, Katie, Emily, Krystin, Dadjian, Amber, Joanna and Cassidy; a sister, Lucy and husband, Arnold Burnette, of Peoria, Ariz.; brothers, Floyd Smith of Petersburg, N.Y., Daniel Smith of Canton, and Donald and Elaine Smith of Saint Lucy, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Ruth Smith of Greenfield, Mass., four sisters-in-law, Betty Fenny, Mae Harris, Doris McKinley, and Doris Hazlett, all of Connecticut; a brother-in-law, Herbert Hazlett of Dover-Foxcroft; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., Guilford. A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery, Guilford, in the spring at a time to be announced.
