WASHBURN – Chester A. Haynes, 92, died Feb. 23, 2007, in Caribou. He was born May 13, 1914, in Washburn, the son of Alvan S. and Grace (Shaw) Haynes. He was educated in the Washburn school system, was a self-employed dairy farmer for many years and was also employed at Caribou Ford. He was a member of the Lidstone United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. Chester was a former town selectman for the Town of Woodland, was a member of the Dairymen’s Association and was active in the Wade Grange. Chester was a world traveler, spending the winter months in Spain. He was an avid gardener and was very proud of his raspberry crop. He is survived by many cousins and many close friends. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of services Monday, Feb. 26, at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou. Services will be held 2 p.m. from the chapel of the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert McCarthy officiating. Spring interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Washburn.
