STOCKTON SPRINGS Wallace Basford’s journey here on Earth ended June 9, 2007, sadly after the loss of his older brother, Adrian, only hours earlier. Wallace, 48, was born Aug. 20, 1958, one minute before his twin brother, Wendell, in Belfast, the son of Fred and Clara (Walker) Basford. He grew up and attended elementary schools in Stock-ton Springs, later graduating from Searsport High School, Class of 1976. After high school, Wallace worked for several years at Fisher Plow, Rockland, before leaving Maine to fulfill his dream of going to California, where he worked for 20 years at John Paul Mitchell Systems, as the head of the shipping warehouse. Returning to Maine just two years ago, he was, at the time of his death, doing what he had always wanted to do, restoring a vintage Corvette. Wallace is survived by his two sisters, Florence Basford of Searsport and Freda Basford Wright of Bangor; a brother, Aaron Basford and his wife, Jennifer, of Collingdale, Pa.; his sister-in-law, Gloria Basford of Winterport; nieces, Jennifer Cyr and her husband, Mike, of Orrington, Amy Basford of California, Julia Basford and Diana Basford, both of Pennsylvania; nephew, Benjamin Basford of Pennsylvania; great-niece, Hannah Mae Cyr; great-nephews, Zachery Cyr and Cooper Cyr; as well as many close dear friends, whom over the years he had cherished and were an integral part of Wallace’s life. He was predeceased by his twin at birth, Wendell; his parents, Fred and Clara Basford; and his older brother, Adrian. Visitation for Wallace and Adrian will be held 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 13, at the Stockton Springs Community Church, Church Street, Stockton Springs. Interment will be at Village Cemetery, Detroit. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stockton Springs Community Church, P.O. Box 391, Stockton Springs, ME 04981.
