STEUBEN and GARDEN CITY, Mich. – Walter A. Whalen, 66, died unexpectedly at his home, Friday, April 23, 2004. He was born Aug. 20, 1937, in Detroit, Mich., the son of Walter A. and Margaret E. (Harrison) Whalen. Walter was a veteran of the Navy. He was member of Pleiades Lodge No. 173 AF & AM in Milbridge. Walter worked for the Ford Motor Co., in Livonia, Mich., for 24 years before retiring to Steuben in August of 1994. He is survived by his wife, Judith A. (Rueter) Whalen of Dearborn Heights, Mich.; a daughter, Linda A. Ferris of Garden City, Mich.; a son, Kelly Whalen of Canton, Mich.; a stepdaughter, Deborah Bos of Hamilton, Mich.; a stepson, Craig Zacharias of Pincney, Mich.; five grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Stickney of Florida; a brother, Terence Whalen of Warren, Mich.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Walter’s request, there will be no funeral services. Cremation arrangements are by Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Milbridge.
