HAMPTON, N.H. – Walter F. McEntee, 78, died Sunday, March 4, 2007, at the Haven Health Center at Seacoast, N.H. He was born Aug. 23, 1928, in Presque Isle, a son of the late Darrell and Mildred (Taylor) McEntee. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. Mr. McEntee was employed as a truck driver for many years for Atlas Van Lines retiring in 1990 and was the recipient of the 2 million-mile accident free driving award. He had resided in Hampton since 2003 coming from La Pine, Ore., where he lived for 10 years. Prior to this he lived in Greenland, N.H., from 1965 to 1993. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth (Johnston) McEntee, who predeceased him in 1986. He was also predeceased by his companion, Margaret Bartles of La Pine, Ore. Family members include two sons, Gary E. McEntee and his wife, Chris, of North Hampton, N.H., Russell McEntee of Dover, N.H.; his daughter, Sandra King and her husband, Monte, of Memphis, Tenn.; three grandchildren, one great- grandchild; his sister, Jeannette St. Amant of Waterville; several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Granville and Robert McEntee; and two sisters, Viola Goode and Myrtle Chase Saylors. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
