LAKELAND, FLA – Weldon B. Learnard, 86, of Lakeland, died Dec. 31, 2003, at home. He was born at Washburn, Aug. 23, 1917, the son of Harold A. and Pearl M. (Estey) Learnard. In Washburn, he was part owner of an automobile service station, and member of the Masonic Lodge. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving for three years in the medics. Mr. Learnard moved to Lakeland in 1985 upon his marriage at 68. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lakeland. Mr. Learnard is survived by his wife, Grace Learnard of Lakeland; a sister, Lois Learnard of Washburn; a sister-in-law, Melba Learnard of Washburn; two nephews, Harold Learnard of Pennsylvania and Frederick Flannagin of Connecticut; a stepson, Sam Phillips of Crowley, La.; a stepdaughter, Judy Foreman of Newborn, Ga.; five step-grandchildren and eight great-step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by an older brother, Glade W. Learnard; and a sister, Marion L. Doak. The funeral was held Jan. 5, 2004, at the First Presbyterian Church, Lakeland. A graveside committal service will be held in Washburn in the spring.
