WELDON WRIGHT FOLSOM HOULTON and HOMOSASSA, Fla. – Weldon Wright Folsom, 76, died March 25, 2005, at his residence in Florida under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. He was born March 14, 1929, at Houlton, the son of Don and Ivy (Wright) Folsom. Weldon resided in Monticello until his graduation from Houlton High School. He received a business degree from Becker Junior College and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He retired after 29 years of service with the Maine Bureau of Taxation as a state sales tax examiner and supervisor of the Bangor division. He and John Duran were instrumental in building Durfo Mobile Home Park and were co-owners for 15 years. Weldon is survived by his mother of Hodgdon; his daughter, Cindy Folsom and her companion, Dale Austin, of Houlton; his granddaughter, Sharene Woodard of Astatula, Fla.; his companion, Martha Annett of Homosassa, Fla.; one brother, Dean Folsom and his wife, Melva, of Monticello; two sisters, Pat Quint and her husband, Roger, of Hodgdon, Catherine Janus of Amenia, N.Y.; special relatives, Marion Proctor of New Port Richey, Fla., Helen and Leigh Cleveland of Stratford, Conn.; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be remembered by special friends, John Duran, Doug Henderson, Ruth and Bob Nickerson. He was predeceased by his father in 1970; and his wife, Gloria (Little) Folsom in 1992. A memorial service was conducted March 31, 2005, at the Strickland Funeral Home, Crystal River, Fla., with Fr. Gilbert Larson, SCC, of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church officiating. Private cremation arrangements were under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, May 1, 2005, at the Linneus Snowsport Clubhouse. This will be an informal gathering of family and friends to share stories and a time to reminisce.
