DRESDEN – Wilbert D. Sproul, 72, of Cedar Grove Road, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, at Veterans’ Administration Medical Center, Togus. He was born Feb. 4, 1933, in Bangor the son of Donald and Lucy (Gray) Sproul. Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corp. during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of the Richmond American Legion Post 132. He also worked for Bath Iron Works for more than 23 years as a heavy equipment operator. Bill enjoyed working on his John Deer tractor, visiting with friends and drinking coffee. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Richard and Robert Sproul. Bill is survived by his daughter, Joan Hetrick and husband, Chuck Frum, of Georgia; brother, Hal Sproul and his wife, Ellen, of Dresden; sisters, Joanne Harriman and husband, Bob, of Richmond, Donna Quam and husband, Bob, of Carmel; companion, Judith Sproul of Dresden; aunt, Pat Sproul of Bangor, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited to call 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at Kincer Funeral Home, 130 Pleasant St., Richmond. A chapel service will take place noon Thursday, Sept. 15, at the New Maine Veterans’ Cemetery Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, with military honors being performed by the Kennebec County Honor Guard.
