GREENFIELD and MILFORD – Willard E. “Bub” Polk, 74, passed away Jan. 12, 2004, at an Orono healthcare facility. He was born Sept. 15, 1928, in Greenfield, a son of William and Movine (Spencer) Polk Sr. Bub worked in the sign crew division of the State of Maine Highway Department most of his life. People will remember Bub for his constant smile and reference to all his friends as “chum”. A few of the simple pleasures that Bub enjoyed most were: time spent at Sunkhaze Falls baiting a hook while smoking a stogie, helping his mother, Movine, at the sporting camps in Greenfield, and playing a game of cards, especially rummy. For many years Bub lived at the Pines Trailer Park in Milford. He will be sadly missed by his loving sister, Mary McBride and her husband, John, of Spring Valley, Calif., and their children, Joanne and Johnny; a special nephew, Greg Polk and his wife, Maggie, of Old Town; a dear niece, Vickie Burnham and her husband, Bob, of Glenburn; sister-in-law, Darlene Polk of Milford; several grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, William Jr. A graveside celebration of Bub’s life will be conducted in the spring at the Greenfield Cemetery on the Crocker Turn Road. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Unit at Orono Commons, 117 Bennoch Road, Orono, ME 04473. Arrangements by Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, ME 04468.
