AUGUSTA – William Henry Miller Jr., 90, of 180 Capitol St., died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a long illness. He was born in North Vassalboro, Aug. 13, 1913, the son of William Henry Miller Sr. and Mary B. (Dougherty) Miller. He was a 1931 graduate of Cony High School. Mr. Miller was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Western Avenue, Augusta. He had been an appraiser for several insurance companies for more than 15 years. Prior to that he was the Proprietor of Miller’s Auto Body Shop of Wade Street in Augusta. Mr. Miller’s two goals were to attain his 90th birthday and, as he loved and enjoyed woodworking, to finish his mantle clock, which now adorns his mantle in the apartment. He retired from service in 1984. Survivors include his wife, Doris (Golden) Miller of Augusta; two sons, William H. Miller III and his wife, Mary, of Lincoln, Neb., and Robert A. Miller and his wife, Roxine, of Bangor; a brother, James C. (Carlton) Miller and his wife, Elvina of Jay; three sisters, M. Constance Belanger of Rumford, Helen Given and her husband, Robert, of Augusta, and Ruth Labato and her husband, Frank, of North Hampton, Mass.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, John Miller. Friends may visit 9:30-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, Western Avenue, Vassalboro, at a later date.
