MADAWASKA – William Nelson died Nov. 8, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 6, 1932, in Jersey City, N.J., son of William and Agnes (Austin) Nelson. He was a retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant, having served in the Air Force for 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Lucienne (Dufour) Nelson of Madawaska; three daughters, Jeannine Nelson of Madawaska, Kathleen Ahern and her husband, Alan, of Temple, N.H., and Eileen Winfrey and her husband, Steven, of Madawaska; one son, William Nelson Jr. and his companion, Carrie Lagasse, of Madawaska; one half brother, Andrew Grogan of Virginia; three half sisters, Agnes LaCourse, Patricia Caton and Eileen Grogan, all of Virginia; nine grandchildren, Tristan and Kara Nelson, Cory, Aidan and Chloe Ahern, Valerie and Ryan Winfrey, Willie and Cassandra Nelson; and one great-grandson, Cameron Nelson. He was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Nelson. A memorial Mass will be celebrated 2 p.m. Monday at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Friends and relatives may call noon Monday until time of services at Daigle Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Caribou.
