HERMON – William R. Wilson, 72, died Jan. 25, 2004, at Haines City, Fla. He was born June 21, 1931, in Ordway, Colo. He graduated from Hurley High School in New Mexico, New Mexico State University, and received a master’s degree from the University of Maine in Orono. He was predeceased by his wife of 28 years, Joy T. Wilson, of Hermon. He served in the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard for 30 years. He taught and coached for 34 years at middle schools in Bangor, Veazie and Glenburn. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Central Maine Senior Golf Association and the Eastern Maine Senior Golf Association. He was a past president, 1997-2000, of the University of Maine Friends of Maine Baseball, an honorary inductee into the University of Maine M Club, past president of the Downeast Sled Dog Club, and an avid sled dog racer for 30 years. He is survived by two children, Sydney Wilson of Newark, Del., and Stacey Blyskal of Landenberg, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Elizabeth Adams of South Portland; three grandchildren, Allie and Andrew Blyskal, and Zachary Adams, and his companion, Claudia Nancy Mulligan. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at the Robert D. Buchanan Alumni House at the University of Maine, with a reception to follow. Burial will be this spring.
