CASTINE – Willis K. Leach, 81, died Dec. 13, 2005, at a Blue Hill hospital. He was born June 17, 1924, in Castine, the son of Horace Maynard and Marie (Osgood) Leach. Willis was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. navy from 1943-1945. He ran Leach Bros. Garage in Castine for many years. An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching his birds. His walks around Castine were frequently interrupted by giving what he called biscuits to the neighborhood dogs. You always found him spending countless hours enjoying the view of the bay from the deck. His favorite fishing spots were East Grand Lake with his children and Ambajejus Lake with his longtime friend, Dick Jordan. He was a 50-year member of Hancock Masonic Lodge No. 4 AF & AM, Castine, a life member of Felicity Chapter No. 195 Order of Eastern Star, Bucksport, and a 50-year member of Castine Grange No. 250, Castine. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Adora (Mercer) Leach. He is survived by his son, Everett E. Leach and his wife, Cheryl, of Penobscot; his daughter, Marcia M. Mower of Bangor; his special friend, Paula Dunfee of Castine; several cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. A gathering with refreshments will be held 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home with words of remembrance said by Pastor Peter Remick at 1 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Heart Association, New England Affiliate, 20 Speen St., Fram-ingham, MA 01701-4688 or to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, One Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086.
