JONESBORO – Wilmont “Bill” “Floody” W. Flood Sr., 79, passed away Dec. 5, 2006, in Bangor, sur-rounded by his family after a brief illness. He was born April 11, 1927, in Marion, the son of the late Ralph E. and Bessie (Garnett) Flood. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He and his family lived in Connecticut for 14 years. During that time, Bill worked at American Cyanmid and also operated a coin shop. The family moved back to Maine, where Bill opened a construction business, Floods Construction. He built many homes in the area. In recent years, Bill will be remembered for selling produce down on the dike in Machias. He was a member and trustee of Jonesboro Union Church and the Jonesboro Grange. He was past president of the Machias Lions Club and also played the Lions Club Santa for many years. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betsy (Reeves) Flood; eight children, Janet Hooper and husband, Clifford, Bruce Flood Sr. and companion, Brenda McLaughlin, Stanley Flood and companion, Jennifer Butler, Paul Flood, Ralph Flood, Wilmont Flood Jr., Cathy Bosits, and David Flood and wife, Wendy; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; special friend, Larissa Southard; several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by a great-grandson, Brett Hooper. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Bayview Cemetery, Jones-port. Friends are invited back to the Chandler River Community Center after the service for a time of fellowship with the family.
