LEVANT – Winifred Irene Dyer, 80, wife of the late George A. Dyer, died Dec. 23, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. She was born July 19, 1926, in Falmouth, the daughter of Arthur Purington and Huldah Lord (Kimball) Blake. Winnie attended Falmouth schools and after graduation, on her birthday in 1947, she married George A. Dyer, the love of her life for 58 years. Winnie will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, crafting and her love of the Boston Red Sox. Surviving are three children, Carol Davis and her husband, Larry, of Hermon, Mary E. Overlock and her husband, Barry “Butch”, of Hermon and Richard A. Dyer of Levant; six grandchildren, Joseph Davis and Kayla Lizotte, both of Hermon, Jeffrey Doughty Jr. of Worcester, Mass., Melissa Wescott of Carmel, Holly Dyer of Brewer and Hannah Dyer of Hermon; five great-grand-children, Sadie, Mac, Kali, CJ and Jayden George; two sisters, Maggie King and Eunice Dusty; one brother, Norman “Porky” Blake. The family thanks the staff at Eastern Maine Medical Center. In addition to her husband, George, Winnie was predeceased by her much loved daughter, Deanna “DD” and 12 siblings. Services will be private for the family with interment at Waugh Cemetery, Levant.
