FALMOUTH and BREWER – Winona E. Love, 91, passed away Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at Maine Medical Center, surrounded by her family. She was born March 1, 1914, in South Bristol, the daughter of Garrie Ophelia Jessie Young and Harry House. Winona was predeceased by her first husband, William E. Durgin; and her second husband, Theodore “Ted” Roosevelt Lovely, whom she met while employed at J.J. Nissen Company in Portland. She later worked for Anthem Blue Cross in the Portland and Bangor offices, retiring after 25 years of service in 1971. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. After retirement, Winona and Ted spent several years traveling between Beech Hill Pond, Otis and Largo, Fla., where Winona developed a love for golf. She had many talents and interests including knitting, cross-stitching and crossword puzzles. She was a sports enthusiast and one of her biggest joys in recent years was attending the sporting events of her great grandsons, Benjamin and Gabriel Marchese. Her family and all who knew her will lovingly miss Winona. Two sisters and three brothers predeceased her. She was also predeceased by a grandson, Larri James Bimpson. She is survived by her sister, Doris Caterina of Portland; her children, William E. Durgin of Massachusetts, Barbara A. Durgin of Brunswick and Sallie J. Pelkey and her husband, Barry, of South Portland; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel, 1024 Broadway, South Portland. A Memorial Service will be held 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, at Conroy-Tully Crawford South Portland Chapel. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Brewer at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations to the American Heart Association, 343 Gorham Rd., South Portland, ME 04106 or the American Lung Association, 122 State St., Augusta, ME 04330. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the caring staff at Maine Medical Center on the SCU2 and Cor3 units.
