HOULTON – John A. Vincent Jr., 83, died Sept. 18, 2008, at a Caribou hospital. He was born Nov. 8, 1924, at Island Falls, the son of John A. and Amber (Lord) Vincent. John served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church, serving on several different boards. He was a mechanic for Bangor & Aroostook Railroad until his retirement in 1985. He was a representative for the Barco Federal Credit Union Member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way and a representative for the M & Way Associates. John was also a member and past president of Houlton Lions Club. He enjoyed square dancing and was past president of Houlton Promenaders Club. John is survived by his wife, Laura Madalyn (Prescott) Vincent; two sons, Ross Vincent and his wife, Rose, of Austin, Texas, and Lawrence Vincent of Houlton; a foster daughter, Greta Madore and her husband, Bud, of Utica, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Kellan Rogers Vincent, Aaron John “AJ” Vincent, Erin Jayne Vincent, Michelle and Ren?; three sisters, Gertrude Lockhart of New Hampshire, Mildred Hichborn of Florida and Lois Russell of Florida; two very special friends, John Gordon of Houlton and Willis “Curly” Kessler of Pennsylvania; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas, Robert and Harold; and his sister, Ethel Vincent. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, at First Baptist Church with the Rev.
