STONINGTON – William B. Dayton III, 92, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008, at a Deer Isle nursing facility. He was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Hughes Dayton of Ardsley Park, N.Y. He is survived by his wife, Ruth Eades MacLaren Dayton; and daughter, Cornelia Hughes Dayton and her husband, James Shilts Boster. The Dayton family has spent 45 years on Deer Isle, mostly summering, but with William and Ruth as year-round residents for the past 15 years, ever conscious of its neighborly and community spirit. A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at St. Brendan the Navigator -Stonington Methodist Church. Contributions may be made to Island Food Pantry, Stonington.
