CLORINTHE MARIE (THERIAULT) AYOTTE – ST. AGATHA – Clorinthe Marie (Theriault) Ayotte, 91, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008. She passed away at St. Joseph Nursing Home, Frenchville, with her family at her side. She was born March 25, 1917, in Notre-Dame-du-Lac, Qu?bec, daughter of Joseph Th?riault and Marie-Anne Fortin. Clorinthe moved to the United States when she married Leonide Ayotte, Nov. 24, 1943. She raised seven children and taught them well the importance of family and the need to take care of each other. She operated the family-owned store attached to their house until its closure in 1975. She also carried out secretarial duties for her husband’s potato growing and shipping business and the fertilizer and pesticide business. She was a dedicated and very hard worker who also took great pride in having a meticulously clean and orderly house. Clorinthe loved to play Charlemagne, eat out at Rosette’s Restaurant, watch NASCAR races and game shows on TV, and spend much time with family, relatives and friends. She enjoyed every minute with her family and laughed heartily at any family gathering. Holidays and birthday celebrations will never be the same without her. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, St. Agatha and a member of Les Dames-de-Ste.-Anne. She had a very strong faith and prayed daily to the Lord until her very last day. Her faith carried her through all of life’s challenges and tragedies. In addition to her most loving husband of 64 years, who was Clorinthe’s roommate at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home, Clorinthe is survived by five sons, Lucien Ayotte and his wife, Joyce, Maurice Ayotte, Leo James Ayotte, Jean Guy Ayotte, and Roland Ayotte and his wife, Linda, all of St. Agatha; one daughter, Fernande and her husband, Francis Desjardins, of St. Agatha; son-in-law, Eudo Emond of Meriden, Conn.; 12 grandchildren, Danna Dubois, Sandy Sylvain, Tammy Bouley, Angie Schickle, Michael Emond. Cindy Fuller, Dave Desjardins, Aaron Desjardins, Sarah Desjardins, Brian Ayotte, Michelle Ayotte and Ashley Ayotte; seven great-grandchildren, and many in-laws, nieces and nephews. She was anxiously awaiting the birth of her first great-great-grandchild in October, the beginning of the fifth generation. Clorinthe was predeceased by her parents; her daughter, Louise Emond; five brothers, Philippe, Josaphat, Adelard, Leon and Lucien Theriault; and four sisters, Alice Caron, Lina Theriault, Oliva Theriault and Yolande Plourde. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, and 8:30 a.m. until the departure for the funeral Thursday at Michaud Funeral Home, St. Agatha. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, St. Agatha, with the Rev. Philip Cyr officiating. Interment will take place at Agatha Lower Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Clorinthe’s memory may be made to Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, the Bishop’s Appeal or any Catholic organization.
