WELLINGTON – Garnet F. Ricker, Sr., 60, died Sept. 29, 2008, at his home. He was born May 25, 1948, in Hartland, son of Cecil and Angie (Ward) Ricker. Garnet graduated from Piscataquis Community High School in 1966 and Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in 1968. He joined the Army National Guard in 1968, retiring in 1992. He worked for many years as a mechanic and later as a maintenance supervisor for Scott Paper, later known as S.D. Warren, Sappi and finally, Plum Creek. At the end of his career, he had progressed to the position of forester for Plum Creek. When he wasn’t involved with his real passion of working on heavy equipment, he was hunting, fishing or four-wheeling. He is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Woodard) Ricker of Wellington; three sons and their wives, Garnet and Kimberly Ricker Jr. of Dover-Foxcroft, Tony and Amy Ricker of Wellington and Shane and Becky Ricker of Harmony; a brother and his wife, Roger and Judy Ricker of Wellington; 10 grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Christopher, Aaron, Preston, Warren, Abbey, Brylee, Brodie and Jared; a special uncle and his wife, Basil and Rena Ward of Bridgeton; a sister-in-law and her husband, Charlotte and Hartley Lake of Harmony; a brother-in-law and his wife, Martin and Barbara Woodard of Abbot; several cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Crosby & Neal, 21 Oak St., Guilford, with the Rev. Richard Berry officiating. Burial will be at Pingree Center Cemetery, Parkman.
