BANGOR – Helen Babine, 93 years young, passed away Oct. 4, 2008, at a Bangor health care facility. Helen was born Oct. 6, 1914, in Monroe, the daughter of Amanda (Hartley) Putnam and Harry T. Putnam. Helen’s family moved to Brewer, where she attended Brewer schools. She graduated as salutatorian from Brewer High. She later graduated from Beal’s Business College and went on to work for businesses in Bangor and two doctors in Waterville. Helen was predeceased by her parents; and her husband of 66 years, Francis. She is survived by two children, Carol Picchiotti and her husband, John, of Fairfield, and Richard of Glenburn. She has five grandchildren, Kirk, Jon and Todd Picchiotti, Erin and Marc Babine. She has five great-grandchildren, Emily, Eve, Jeremiah, Julian and Wayland. Helen always enjoyed her family and was loved by everyone. Special thanks to the staff at Seton Rehab. and Eastside Living Center, Bangor. A visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Burial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Maine Veterans’ Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
