BANGOR – Helen Frances (Ward) Milan, 93, wife of the late James R. Milan, died Oct. 7, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Sept. 30, 1915, in Bangor, the daughter of John and Mary (Cunningham) Ward of Glennamaddy, County Galway, Ireland. Helen was a 1934 graduate of John Bapst High School. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor, and was a lifelong resident of Bangor. Surviving are her three children, Terrence James Milan of Boston, Mary Gauntt and her husband, Roy, of Pemaquid Point, and Catherine Vallance and her husband, William, of Brewer; six grandchildren, Christy, Brian, Katie, Emily and Amy Vallance and Tara Gauntt; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband in 1965; her sisters, Bridget Ward, Mary Ward and Margaret (Ward) Perry; and one brother, John Ward. Family and friends may visit 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor, and a time of fellowship will be held immediately afterward in the parish center.
