PALMYRA – Lawrence E. “Larry” Marcia, 65, died Oct. 8, 2008, at his home with his family at his side after a long illness. He was born April 27, 1943, in Pittsfield, the son of Lester and Florence (Cook) Marcia. Larry was educated in Pittsfield schools. He married Beverly Getchell Aug. 7, 1964, in Pittsfield. He was employed at Dexter Shoe Co., as a hand sewer for several years. He retired, due to ill health, from S.A.S. as a supervisor after 20 years of service. He owned and operated Larry’s Antiques, Palmyra, for several years. Larry was a former member of Pittsfield Fire Department for several years. He enjoyed hunting and doing his daily crossword puzzles. Larry was a great “tease” but was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone that needed it. He is survived by his wife of 44 “great” years, Beverly A. Marcia of Palmyra; three sons, Robin Marcia and his wife, Tricia, Christopher Marcia, and Mark Marcia and his wife, Nikki, all of Palmyra; 10 grandchildren, Dustin, Jennifer, Jaimee, Dayna, Travis, Taylor, Kelsey, Ryan, Rebecca and Thomas; one great-granddaughter, Trinity; one aunt, Betty Cook; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jerry was predeceased by his parents; four sisters, Irene, Alice, Ethel and Helen; a grandson, Tyler; and a great-granddaughter, Kiearah. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport, with the Rev. Obie Walker officiating. Friends may call noon until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the family lot at Village Cemetery, Palmyra.
