GULF STREAM, Fla., and BROOKLIN – Christopher “Kno-bby” Raymond Perry Rodgers, 87, died Oct. 7, 2008, surrounded by his family’s love, at his summer residence in Brooklin. He was born Nov. 29, 1920, to C. Raymond P. and Alice A. (Meyer) Rodgers. He graduated from St. Georges School and Princeton University, Class of 1942. He entered the U.S. Navy and fought in World War II on the aircraft carrier San Jacinto, over seeing radar operations. He married Charlotte Hudley in 1942, and had C.R. Perry Jr. and Emily. After Charlotte’s death, he married Bunny Pardee in 1951, and Jim, Sam, Sally, Alice, Virgie, John and Julie followed. He adopted Mary Liz and Ario and we were 11. He resided in Princeton, N.J., and retired as a vice-president after 35 years of distinguished service from Citi Corp., New York City. After Bunny’s death in 1983, he married Katharine B. Parson with two daughters, Arel and Anne. They spent 23 wonderful years traveling and entertaining in Gulf Stream, Fla., and Brooklin, until her death last year. His athletic prowess culminated as a goalie on the 1948 U.S. Olympic Hockey Team and many years playing on St. Nick’s Hockey Club. Always involved in his community, he worked on school boards, Trinity Church vestry in Princeton, N.J., and Trinity Church of New York City He was a generous supporter of all veterans’ affairs and many other charities. His passion for golf was ever present. He was a founder of Bedens Brook Country Club, New Jersey and served as president of Gulf Stream Golf Club, Florida. Always a gentleman, he is remembered for loyalty to friends, his kindness, his impeccable honor, his generous smile, his love of family, his joy of a party, his stories and his wonderful sense of humor, which he displayed until the end. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his children, Mary Liz, Perry, Emily, Jim, Sam, Sally, Alice, Virgie, John, Julie, Arel and Anne; 30 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wives, Charlotte, Bunny and Kay; his sisters, Alicia and Virginia; and his stepson, Ario. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
