FORT FAIRFIELD – Frank W. “Bill” Sharpe, 79, husband of the late Glenna (Walker) Sharpe, passed away Thursday afternoon, Oct. 9, 2008, at a Presque Isle nursing facility, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 7, 1929, in Fort Fairfield, the son of William Clifford and Emily M. (Ames) Sharpe. Bill was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1947 and had been employed by the Civil Service Engineers as a supervisor at the former Loring Air Force Base Heating Plant, from 1951 to 1984. He was married to Glenna Walker, Nov. 17, 1973, and was a member of Fort Fairfield Lions Club for many years. An avid outdoorsman, Bill greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, and possessed a special love for his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Sharpe was predeceased by his parents, William C. Sharpe and Emily M. (Ames) Sharpe Foss; and his wife, Glenna W. Sharpe, July 22, 2000. He is survived by three sons, Stephen Sharpe and his wife, Andrea, of Colchester, Conn., Dale A. Sharpe and Wayne D. Sharpe, both of Presque Isle; three daughters, Colleen “Coco” Schwendeman, Kim McDonald and her husband, James, and Billie-Jo Sharpe and her special friend, Danny Dufour, all of Fort Fairfield; eight grandchildren, Scott Pierce of Mars Hill, Amber Schwendeman, Matthew and William Devine, Jon Helstrom, all of Fort Fairfield, Brandon and Christine Sharpe, both of Colchester, Conn., and Douglas Sharpe of Fort Fairfield; six great-grandchildren, Haley, Laney and Mattey Devine, Frankie Ann and Julia Pierce, and Eric Helstrom. Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, after the memorial service. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield, immediately after the interment service.
