WAKEMAN, Ohio – Stanley C. Beach passed away peacefully Oct. 20, 2008, surrounded by his family at home. Stan was born Oct. 22, 1928, at Lambert Lake. He left his home at age 17 to enlist in the Army Air Corps and remained in the U.S. Air Force for 25 years, serving in many locations around the globe. He participated in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired with the rank of senior master sergeant and went on to acquire his bachelor’s degree from Sacramento State University. He then was employed for 18 years in management of recreational facilities at McClellan Air Base, Sacramento, Calif. He resided there for more than 40 years before moving to Wakeman, Ohio, in 2005. He was employed as a sports guide on the St. Croix River in his youth and developed a deep love of the outdoors. He spent countless hours hunting, fishing and camping throughout his life. Stan was a skilled artist and craftsman and created beautiful carvings of fish and birds. A friend to all he met, he was loved dearly by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Georgia (Cline) Beach; sons, Stanley and wife, Margaret, of Kelseyville, Calif., and Steven and wife, Esther, of Fitchville, Ohio; daughter, Jennifer and husband, Larry, of Wakeman, Ohio; grandchildren, Amy and Michael Watts; special sisters-in-law, Mila Traicoff and Patricia Beach; brother-in-law, Ray Cline; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Minerva (Grass) and George Beach; brothers, Lewis, Donald and Robert; and sisters, Mattie (McClean) and Florence (Bagley). There will be no services.
