BREWER – Pauline E. Mercier, 84, devoted wife, mother and sister, died Oct. 26, 2008, in Bangor. She was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Brewer, the daughter of George and Mary (Coleman) Adams. Pauline graduated from Webber Hospital School of Nursing, Biddeford and was a dedicated nurse in the Bangor area for more than 35 years, serving families at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Stillwater Health Care, and her many brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Pauline truly loved her nursing career and her family. She is survived by her son, Thomas A. Mercier Jr. of Orrington; four brothers, Frederick Adams of California, David Adams of Florida, George Adams of Dedham and Joseph Adams of Corinth; three sisters, Nellie Hamm, Dorothy Nelligan and Louise Bissell, all of Holden; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas; three brothers, John, Bill and Robert Adams; three sisters, Peggy Loper, Mary Patterson and Alice Sherman. Friends and relatives may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, with the Rev. Rex Garrett officiating. Interment will be in the family lot at Woodlawn Cemetery, Brewer.
