DOVER-FOXCROFT – Thomas W. McArthur, 67, a carpenter for Union Carpenter Local No. 124, Paterson, N.J., passed Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, in Bangor. Born in Fountain Hill, Pa., Mr. McArthur lived in West Milford, N.J., for 40 years before moving to Dover-Foxcroft 17 years ago. He had been a member of West Milford (N.J.) Men’s Recreational Softball League, known as “The Badger,” a member of the National Rifle Association and an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. McArthur was an Army veteran, serving from 1962 to 1963. He is survived by his wife, Miriam (McManus); his mother, Elsie Kardos of Warwick, N.Y; two sons, Joseph McArthur of Prescott, Ariz., and David McArthur of Bangor; a brother, David McArthur of Bangor; a special granddaughter, Julia Drossel; and two stepgrandchildren, Hailey and Sebastian La Gross. His father, Carl W. McArthur, predeceased him. Visiting hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Richards Funeral Home, 1440 Union Valley Road, West Milford, N.J., where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday.
