CHESTER – William H. Tash Sr., 69, husband of Erma “Binie” (Whitney) Tash, passed away Oct. 30, 2008, at a Lincoln hospital. He was born April 28, 1939, in Chester, the son of Arnold and Dossie (Ireland) Tash. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post No. 97 of Lincoln. He worked at the Lincoln paper mill for many years. He loved country music, traveling and fishing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, William H. Tash Jr. and Betty of Chester, Brenda and Clyde Smires of Barnet, Vt., Rosalie and Donald Lyons Jr. of Cornville and Valerie and Roy Chasse of Chester; four stepchildren, Brent Savage and Buster of Howland, Mark and Debbie Savage of Otis, Yves and Gladys Gagnon of Brewer and Sharon Nelson of Lincoln; 13 siblings, Arnold “Sonny” and Joan Tash, Emden and Dot Tash, James and Donna Tash, Edwin and Mary Tash, Tommy and Linda Tash, Pearl and Chuck Scavone, Arlette and Greg Richard, Gene and Wanda Tash, Rebecca and Terry Theriault, Roscoe and Marlene Tash, Charlie and Gina Tash, Marilyn and Robert Reed, and Marlene and John Daley; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Carter. Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Keith Cushman officiating. Interment will be at South Chester Cemetery.
