BANGOR, Maine — The Maine State Cultural Affairs Council is seeking comment on the needs of Maine’s cultural community at a Thursday evening meeting at Bangor Public Library.
The meeting, which is open to the public, will start at 6 p.m. and will be held in the library’s boardroom.
The gathering will start with an introduction to the council, which is authorized by the Legislature and is an alliance of seven statewide cultural agencies: the Maine State Museum, the Maine State Library, the Maine Arts Commission, the Maine Historic Preservation Commission, the Maine State Archives, the Maine Historical Society and the Maine Humanities Council.
After the introduction, the meeting will break into small groups of participants, who will be asked to provide information and ideas to the council. Representatives from each of the council’s member agencies will attend the forums, which will be led by a professional facilitator.
The council also is seeking ideas for how it can increase visibility in the state.
A similar meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in Room 103A of the Cross Office Building on Capitol Street in Augusta. That meeting will include a videoconference connection to Machias Memorial High School and Presque Isle High School.
