PITTSFIELD – Meridel Edith (Nunan) McCabe passed away peacefully Oct. 28, 2008, after a brief illness. Meridel, daughter of Lloyd Nunan and Edith (Andrews) Nunan, was born Sept. 23, 1936, in Farmington. She grew up in Kennebunk and Cape Porpoise, attending Kennebunk High School. She graduated in 1954. There she developed her lifelong love of music, both choral and instrumental. Meridel lived many years in Lee, N.H., where she was a member of Lee Congregational Church. She also spent 12 years residing in Tacoma, Wash., where she was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church. Her last place of residence was Pittsfield, with membership in the Unitarian Universalist Church. Meridel was predeceased by her sister, Naomi Burns in July 2008. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Blake McCabe, his wife, Tina, their daughter, Angelina Kathryn Meridel and his stepchildren, Kelly Randall and William Woods. Meridel is also survived by her daughter, Jennifer Lee Leonard; her grandsons, Eric Shayne Hammond, Peter John Hammond, Mackenzie Alan Chamness and Andrew Bernard Chamness; her son, Sean Thomas McCabe and his daughter, Haley; as well as several nieces and nephews. As per Meridel’s request, there will be no services held.
