WESTBROOK – Leland N. Suitter Sr., 75, of 555 Main St., Apartment 1, went home to be with his Lord Monday morning, Nov. 3, 2008, at his home. Born March 20, 1933, in Linneus, he was the son of Henry and Nettie (Hatfield) Suitter. Leland attended Carroll schools. While growing up, Leland did a lot of farm work. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Upon discharge, Leland worked for Great Northern Paper Co., as well as Houlton International Mill. He worked for 30 years as a logger in the Maine woods. Leland loved playing pool and horseshoes, and his skill showed in the many trophies he won. He had a great sense of humor, which will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Leland was a proud member of Westbrook Baptist Church, Westbrook. Members of his family include his wife of 53 years, Evelyn C. (McLaughlin) Suitter; three sons, Leland Suitter Jr. and his wife, Judith, of Houlton, Lloyd Suitter and Jason Suitter of Westbrook; four daughters, Cindy Suitter of Rochester, N.H., Anna Suitter-Ahlstrand and her husband, Mike Ahlstrand, of Tacoma, Wash., Gina McDonald and her husband, Rusty, of Oakfield and Tina Farwell and her longtime companion, Steve, of Wytopitlick; 21 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. In addition Leland leaves four brothers, Henry, Wilbur, Wendell and Ernest Suitter; and six sisters, Betty Jones, Helen Cole, Marion Johnson, Ruby Moores, Elsie Seavey and Evelyn N. Suitter. Leland also leaves behind his dear friends, Eugene and Betty Lachance of Westbrook, and Lynwood and Dolly Cyr of Alabama. Leland was predeceased by his parents. Services will be held 5:30 p.m. Nov. 10 at Westbrook Baptist Church, Westbrook, and 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at Tri Town Baptist Church, East Millinocket.
