JAMES F. MCPARTLAND

HOULTON – James F. McPartland, 84, died Nov. 7, 2008, at a local hospital. He was born Oct. 19, 1924, son of Frank L. and Louise (Chamberlain) McPartland. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy after his high school graduation in 1943 and served in World War II and the Korean War. He married Lois Marie Moore, Sept. 23, 1950. He enjoyed a career in the family plumbing and heating business established by his grandfather, James H. McPartland. He is survived by his dear wife of 58 years; his six children, Margaret of Belgrade, Anne and her husband, Charlie Dodd, of Mount Vernon, N.H., James M. and his wife, Hollie, of Houlton, Frank and his wife, Carla, of New Limerick, Mary and her husband, Dean Waring, of Brunswick and Sarah and her husband, Shawn Good, of Hampden; and 12 adored grandchildren, Emily and Laura Dodd, Christopher and Julia Bean, Andrew and Amie McPartland, Mallory and Martha McPartland, James and Joseph Waring, and Sam and Daniel Good. He was proud to serve 40 years as a director of Houlton Water Co., and was honored to have the Carys Mills Well and Pumping Station named for him. He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Visitation Parish, was a life member and past exalted ruler of Houlton Lodge of Elks No. 835 and was never happier than when he was spending time with his family and many friends. He grew up next to the Houlton Firehouse and had been a life-long supporter and enthusiast of Houlton Fire Department. Jim’s visitation will be private. Friends and relatives are invited to share in a celebration of his life 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, at St. Mary of the Visitation Church, Houlton, with Father David Raymond officiating. Internment with military honors will be at the Old St. Mary’s Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome to a reception in the parish hall immediately after a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations to James F. McPartland Scholarship Fund for Houlton High School graduates may be made to Maine Community Foundation, 245 Main St., Ellsworth, ME 04605.
