CARIBOU – Allen James Curran, 89, husband of the late Ruth (Cochran) Curran, died Nov. 10, 2008, in Caribou. He was born Sept. 18, 1919, in Perham, son of James and Laverna (Conroy) Curran. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Allen was employed at Loring Air Force Base Civil Service for 30 years as pavement and grounds foreman. After his retirement, he was employed as a tank truck driver for John Noble Transport. He was a member of Caribou United Baptist Church and Lister-Knowlton Post No. 9389 VFW. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, and was a member of Unisled Snowmobile Club, Caribou and Washburn Trail Runners. Allen is survived by a son, Gregory Curran of Caribou; daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Fred Bush of Beltsville, Md.; three sisters, Annie Drier of San Francisco, Marjorie Baumann of California and Eldora Nedeau of Woodland; two grandchildren, Bradley Bush, and Amanda Ginter and her husband, Zach; two great-grandchildren, Caden and Riley Ginter; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou, with evening military services being held 7 p.m. by the officers and members of the VFW. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at the chapel of Mockler Funeral Home with the Rev. John Kiehn, pastor of Caribou United Baptist Church, officiating.
