BELFAST – Charles “Charlie” Boynton, 95, died peacefully Nov. 26, 2008, in Belfast. He was born Aug. 2, 1913, in Montville, the son of John L. and Lillian (Cook) Boynton. Charlie was a dairy farmer much of his lifetime. He made mention of milking cows for 11 years straight one time and never missing a milking. He owned and operated Umbrella Dance Hall and Bear Trap Store from 1940 until the late 1950s. He then opened Exxon Garage and Boynton’s Car Wash and continued operating them until the early 1990s. He loved hunting in season and out. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence in 2004; a daughter, Catherine Nickerson; and baby, Jimmy. Charlie is survived by two sons, John and wife, Rosie Boynton, and Gary and wife, Nan Boynton, all of Belfast; one daughter, Beverly and husband, Robert Dutton, of Morrill; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Family and friends may call noon-1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Interment will be after at Mount Repose Cemetery, Montville.
