NEW GLOUCESTER – Ernest Lemont Russell II, 55, died in a hunting accident Nov. 29, 2008, outside Greenville. He was born Sept. 30, 1953, in Portland, son of Robert and Vivian Russell. In 1972, he graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High School. He first worked for Porteous Mitchell and Braun department store for several years. As a businessman, he established and was president of Window Reps of Maine. Mr. Russell married Wendy Mitchell in 1986. He was an avid family man, outdoorsman, martial artist, businessman and staunch republican. In 2003, Mr. Russell built a camp in Greenville and considered it his home away from home. Surviving are his beloved wife of 22 years and mother to his children, Wendy Russell; four daughters and one son, Melissa May, Kim Russell, Dennis Russell, Jodell Wilkinson and Daphne Russell; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kiley and Brayden Russell, and Trevor and Allie Pineau; two sisters, Helen Hall and Roberta Catron; many nieces and nephews. A memorial gathering will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, at Wilson Funeral Home, Gray, where a memorial service will begin 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Ernest L. Russell Memorial Fund, care of Androscoggin Savings Bank, P.O. Box 1269, Gray, ME 04039. Funds will be distributed to youth organizations that sponsor outdoor sporting activities.
