MILBRIDGE – Andrew Bobko, 84, died Dec. 1, 2008, at the Grace Home, Harrington, after an extended illness. He was born Dec. 24, 1923, in Stratford, Conn., the son of the late George and Veronica (Filicko) Bobko. Andrew was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He retired from United Technology-Sikorsky Aircraft, where he worked assembling helicopter rotor blades for the famous Sikorsky Helicopters. Andrew was an avid fisherman and always had his own boat. He is survived by his daughter, Diane Maugeri and husband, John, of Venice, Fla.; two grandsons, John C. Maugeri and wife, Jennifer, of Las Vegas and Andrew J. Bobko Jr. of Bridgeport, Conn.; one great-grandson, Alexander Christopher Maugeri; a sister, Margaret Strich of Stratford, Conn.; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Tim Tucker and wife, Janet, of Milbridge. Andrew was predeceased by a son, Andy J. Bobko; two brothers, Mike and George Bobko; and a longtime companion, Phyllis King. Visiting hours will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, officiated by Pastor Owen Beal. Burial will be after at Rock Maple Cemetery, Harrington.
