MORRILL – Blaine P. Woodbury, 89, passed away peacefully Dec. 1, 2008, surrounded by his loving family, at Waldo County General Hospital. He was born Sept. 1, 1919, in Morrill, the son of Roland and Eva (Proctor) Woodbury. Blaine graduated from Crosby High School in 1937. He attended Maine School of Commerce, Bangor. He married the love of his life, Nellie Jackson, Oct. 9, 1940. In 1941, he purchased the farm where he was born and began his 64-year dairy farming career. As well as being a caring husband, father and grandfather, he enjoyed taxidermy, drawing, painting, woodworking, caning, hunting and fishing. He owned and operated the Morrill General Store and worked in the woods. He also was a substitute mail carrier for Morrill Post Office for 32 years. Blaine was a lifelong member of Honesty Grange, a charter member of Waldo County Soil and Water Conservation District, a 60-plus year member of Quantabacook Lodge, a member of Royal Arch Chapter of Belfast, a member of Maine Farm Bureau and an active member of Boy Scouts of Morrill. Blaine is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Nellie (Jackson) Woodbury; a son, Wendell “Jack” Woodbury and his wife, Faith and grandchild, Theresa, and Craig Williams and their daughter, Alyssa, all of Pennsylvania; son, Kerry Woodbury and his wife, Pat and their children, Wendy and Joe McCarthy and their children, Erin, Daniel and Katie, Beth Woodbury, Kimberly Woodbury, Amy and Matt Nye, all of Bangor; son, Brian and his wife, Cheryl and grandchildren, Jill and David Wight, James and Jamie Woodbury and their children, Owen and Oralee, all of Morrill; his sisters, Frances Williamson of Jefferson, Joan and Woody Rice of Punta Gorda, Fla.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Lloyd Woodbury. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at Morrill Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Peterson officiating.
