DEXTER – Cecil L. Gudroe, 74, went home to be with his Lord, Jesus Christ, Dec. 3, 2008, at a Dover-Foxcroft hospital. He was born Aug. 1, 1934, in Corinna, a son of Richard and Clarabelle (Wingate) Gudroe. He graduated from Dexter High School in 1953 and Husson College in 1956, with a degree in accounting. Cecil served in the U.S. Army, stationed mostly in Germany, but visited England, Holland, Austria and Switzerland. He was employed as a manager of hotels in Florida and Maine, including the world famous Breakers Hotel, Palm Beach, Fla., and later worked for Palm Beach County School Board as an accountant. Cecil was a member of First Baptist Church, Dexter, and Charleston Pentecostal Church, and most recently attended First Baptist, Dexter. He was active on several committees and also sang solos. He was a member of Plymouth Lodge, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and held every office, including noble grand, and was also a member of Penobscot Lodge Masons. He is survived by two special brothers, Floyd and wife, Peggy Gudroe, and Keith Gudroe, all of Dexter; six nephews and a niece, Stephen, Randy, David, Rodney, Richard and Michael, and Carol Gallup; several cousins, including three special cousins, Chloe Libby of Carmel, Brenda Dinopoulos of Corinna and Lynn Wingate of Ware, Mass., and Vero Beach, Fla.; as well as special friends in Florida, Georgia and Dexter. Cecil thanks all of his loved ones and friends, especially his homecare workers, Donna Hatch and Diana Robinson. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at Crosby & Neal, 61 Main St., Dexter, with Pastor Matthew Ward officiating. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter.
