MATTAWAMKEAG – Josephine Smith, 66, wife of Donald Smith, died Dec. 4, 2008, at her home. She was born July 2, 1942, in Webster Plantation, the daughter of Frederick and Pauline (Bradeen) Hurd. Josephine loved music and her church family. She will be greatly missed by her many friends. In addition to her husband, Donald, she is survived by two children, Kendra Major and her husband, Tom, and Terry Smith and his wife, Ann, all of Mattawamkeag; four grandchildren, Breann, Robert, Cory and Emily; a brother, Tony Hurd; three sisters, Donna Robinson, Christine Gerrish and Linda Lancaster; several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her dog, Pee Wee. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Maxine Yeo. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, at Mattawamkeag Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve McNally officiating. Arrangements with Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln.
