PRESQUE ISLE – Lucille Sowers, 62, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at her residence. She was born July 23, 1946, in Houlton, the daughter of Earl James and Dorothy (LeVasseur) Sowers. She worked at The Aroostook Medical Center, in housekeeping for 15 years. Lucille loved to knit and crochet, and spend time with family and friends. She always had a smile. She is survived by her father, Earl James Sowers of Mapleton; two sons, Lawrence “Larry” J. Hammond Jr. and his friend, Rachel Corriveau, of Frenchville and Douglas J. Hammond and his wife, Kimberly, of Easton; two daughters, Geneva “Penny” Jones and her husband, Jimmy, of New Sweden and Lisa Cyr and her husband, Dana, of Easton; a brother, David Sowers and his wife, Debi, of Mapleton; a sister, Rose Mary Piccolella of Caribou; seven grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother, Dorothy Sowers; a brother, Rodney Sowers; and a brother-in-law, Joseph Piccolella. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, with the Very Rev. Jean LaBrie officiating. Spring interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle. In support of the family, donations may be mailed to Penny Jones, 474 Station Road, New Sweden, ME 04762.
