HERMON – Mildred “Millie” T. Harris, 86, died peacefully Dec. 12, 2008, at a local health care facility. She has now gone home to be with God, and her mother and father. She was born June 29, 1922, in Bangor, the daughter of Thomas and Rose (Flynn) Curran. She graduated from John Bapst High School in 1940 and was married in 1942 to Charles “Bill” L. Harris at Dow Chapel. Mildred worked many years in the secretarial and administrative fields, retiring in 1987. In retirement, she and her husband, Bill, spent their winters in Florida, returning to Maine for the summers. In 1999 Millie joined Hammond Street Senior Center, where she found old friends and made many new ones, always sharing with them her enthusiasm for life. She was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan and an avid New England Patriots fan, who tried never to miss a game. In addition to her husband of 66 years, she is survived by her five children, Charlene H. Kimball of Hampden, Charles L. Harris Jr. and Diane T. Harris, both of Bangor, Thomas B. Harris and his wife, Debbie, of South Portland and William J. Harris and his wife, Joyce, of Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren, Melinda A. Harris of Bangor, Jacob T. Harris of Dedham, William J. Harris Jr. and his wife, Tara, of Salem, Mass., and Craig Harris of Alton; one great-grandchild, Brandon A. Harris of Salem, Mass.; and one sister-in-law, Delena Curran of Bangor. A special thanks to Dr. Jack Forbush for his care and compassion, especially during the last nine months. Additional thanks and love to all the “Earthly Angels” at Jack’s office, Ross Manor and St. Joseph Hospital. Spring interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery. The family invites relatives and friends for conversation and refreshments 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
