CALAIS – Daniel A. Parks, 62, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at a Bangor hospital, with his family by his side. Danny was born Oct. 25, 1946, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, son of James and Irene (Smith) Parks. He graduated from Calais Memorial High School, Class of 1964. Danny attended Lady Dunn Trade School, St. Andrews, where he studied welding. After school, he was drafted into the U.S. Navy. Danny returned to Calais and started his career with Georgia Pacific. On June 26, 1971, he married Marlene Boddy. Danny retired from Domtar in 2007, after 40 years of service. He was a member of Quarter Century Club and Sherman Brothers Post No. 3, American Legion. Danny enjoyed spending time at Meddybemps Lake, where he enjoyed fishing, boating and spending time with his family. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Danny was predeceased by his father, James Parks. In addition to his mother, Irene Parks, Danny is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Marlene Parks; his son, Jason Parks and his companion, Kristy Lenihan, of Mississauga, Ontario; a brother, Albert Parks and his wife, Mary, of Calais; sister-in-law, Sandra Johnson and her husband, Billy, of Kittery; three nephews, Scott Johnson and his wife, Heather, of Fitchburg, Mass., Jamie Parks and his wife, Jennifer, of Copake, N.Y., and John Clark and his wife, Helen, of Baileyville; a niece, Billie Jo Ham and her husband, Kevin, of York; and his two special granddoggies, Rioux and Bailey. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A celebration of Danny’s life will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at Second Baptist Church, Church Street, Calais. Burial will be after at Calais Cemetery.
