GREENBUSH – Roger S. Batchelder, 64, died peacefully Dec. 18, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. He was born Sept. 5, 1944, in Lincoln, a son of Leland and Marcia (Curtis) Batchelder. Roger worked in the woods for many years and was employed in the construction field before medical reasons forced him to stop working. When he no longer could work in the construction field, he found a new interest in woodworking, creating many small projects. He was truly an outdoorsman, and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He was known for his sense of humor. He was an avid NASCAR fan and thanks, in large part to the great support he received from his brother, Ronnie, he was able to travel to Loudon, N.H., and watch a race. Ronnie was there to help Roger in many tasks he could no longer do. Roger was a genuine friend and was always there to return the favor of a helping hand. He adored his grandchildren and had a special friendship with his faithful companion, “Bud.” He is survived by his wife, Susan; a son, Roger “Dale” Batchelder and his wife, Wendy, of Enfield; daughters, Lisa Davis of Lincoln, Tracy Bouchard and her husband, Chris, of West Enfield and Audrey Wood and her husband, Jeremy, of Greenbush; brothers, Blaine Batchelder and his wife, Betty, of Enfield and Ronald Batchelder and his wife, Carol, of Chester; sisters, Althea Fogg and her husband, Barry, of Lowell, Gloria Dow and husband, Robert, of Mattamiscontis and Myrtle McKenney and her husband, Daynel, of Lowell; nine grandchildren, Laura, Sandy, Brandon, Kane, John, Mandy, Christen, Jacob and Joshua; two great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Abby; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Carl.
