BROWNVILLE – Rose Isabel Washburn, 91, wife of the late Leigh W. Washburn, died Dec. 19, 2008, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born July 21, 1917, in Tremont, the daughter of Reuben H. and Elizabeth F. (Staples) Lancaster. Rose graduated valedictorian from Brownville High School, Class of 1934. She was an avid gardener, quilter and bowler. She loved to dance, and her children and grandchildren enjoyed the mittens she knit for them all. She is survived by two daughters, Dianne Bragdon and her husband, Allen, and Virginia Foss and her husband, Lawrence; four sons, Thomas, Rodney and his wife, Allana, Leigh and Jerry; 12 grandchildren, David, Leslie, Sherri, Rebecca, Charles, Thomas Jr., Christopher, Aaron, Michael, Chad, Layton and Jarret; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, June Bragg and Isabelle Greaney; many nieces, nephews and cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She was predeceased by a brother, Reuben Lancaster; and a sister, Joyce Quinney. Services will be announced at a later date by Lary Funeral Home, Milo.
