HAMMOND PLANTATION Edna J. Luhrs, 92, died Dec. 24, 2008, at her residence. She was born July 4, 1916, in New York City, the daughter of Carnot and Olga (Ohman) Egland. Edna was a member of Bush Creek Brethren Church, Maryland. She worked for many years for Macy’s of New York, and loved to cook for family and friends. After they retired, Edna and her husband, Charles, enjoyed traveling and sight seeing together. She is survived by her son, Robert Luhrs and his wife, Alice, of Hammond Plantation; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Luhrs of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren, Michael Luhrs and his wife, Machelle, Cynitha Luhrs, Tonya Youngfellow, Jennifer Luhrs, and Daniel Luhrs and his wife, Danielle; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles; and her son, Lawrence Charles Luhrs. At Edna’s request, there will be no visitation or service at this time. A graveside service will take place at Linneus Cemetery in the spring. A service of Dunn Funeral Home, Houlton.
