CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif., and VAN BUREN – Daniel N. Cyr, 77, of Cathedral City, Calif., died Dec. 3, 2008, in Palm Springs, Calif. He was born Feb. 18, 1931, in Van Buren, the son of Abel and Annie Cyr. He married Dolores Long, Nov. 17, 1951, in Hartford, Conn. Daniel served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He retired from the hotel industry. Daniel was a devout Catholic who loved his family and his many friends. He is survived by his three sons, Michael P. Cyr of North Las Vegas, Richard J. Cyr of Wisconsin and David W. Cyr of Cathedral City, Calif.; his sisters, Arline Frenette of Bristol, Conn., Yvette Couturier of Hartford, Conn., Jeannine Laria of Punta Gordo, Fla., and Verna Cyr of Van Buren; six grandchildren and two great-grand-children. In addition to his parents, Daniel was predeceased by his wife, Dolores (Long) Cyr; two brothers, Reno and Bertrand “Rosaire” Cyr; and by four sisters, Donata Grant, Bertha Tardif, Lucille Bellefleur and Corinne Duperry. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church, Van Buren. Interment will be at the parish cemetery. Those who wish may contribute in his memory to St. Bruno Choir Society or to St. Peter Chanel Parish Memorial Fund, 174 Main St., Van Buren.
