CALAIS – Kathleen Simmons, 90, passed away Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at a Calais nursing home. Kathleen was born March 15, 1918, in London. Along with her husband, George and their children, Kathleen moved to the U.S. in 1956, settling in Tennessee. Upon the death of her husband in 1986, she moved to Calais to be close to her son. Kathleen became active in the Calais area with the auxiliary and seniority at Calais Regional Hospital, and was a member of Calais United Methodist Church. She enjoyed making crafts, sewing, knitting, going to yard sales, riding her scooter, and spending time with family and friends. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband, George Simmons; and a son, Michael Simmons. Surviving are three children, Margaret Fauver and husband, George, of Louisville, Ky., Susan Hall and husband, John, of Granville, Texas, and Dr. David Simmons and wife, Dr. Ann Simmons, of Calais; a daughter-in-law, Diana Simmons; eight grandchildren, George Hilburn, Rick Martin, Mindy Rose, Todd Wilson, Katie Wilson, Michele Joyce, Stacey Simmons and Erica Simmons; and many great-grandchildren.
