MAPLETON and ST. AGATHA – Joseph N. Plourde, 65, died Jan. 1, 2009, at his home, after a hard, but short fight with lung cancer. He was born June 3, 1943, in Warwick, R.I., the son of Joseph Sr. and Aurore Plourde. Joseph was a 1963 graduate of St. Agatha High School. He worked for a few years for Blotner’s Trailer Park, Presque Isle. Joseph was known for his humor, and his compassion for life and his grandchildren. In his spare time, he loved to tinker with his garden tractors, tend to his chickens, garden, fish, and camp at Long Lake. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Fernande (Albert) Plourde. He left behind his two sons and five grandchildren, Eddie and his wife, Laurie (Saucier) Plourde and their three daughters, Kylie, Veronica and Victoria; and Mark and his wife, Lisa (Belanger) Plourde and their two sons, Chase and Bryce. Joseph is also survived by several sisters, Gloria (Plourde) Gervais and her spouse, Joseph, Claudia (Plourde) Morin and her spouse, Francis, Gail (Plourde) Pelletier, and Rita Plourde; one brother, Gerald Plourde and his spouse, Pauline; several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at St. Mary’s Church, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Raymond Morency, celebrant. Interment will be later in the spring at St. Agatha’s Catholic Cemetery.
